What Episode does Sasuke Kill Naruto?

At the Valley of the End, Naruto and Sasuke arrive at a final confrontation. At odds with each other’s ideologies, Sasuke expresses that to be a Hokage is to be able to shoulder the people’s hatred; a principle he learned from the actions of his older brother, Itachi.

Sasuke then relays to Naruto that he intends to concentrate the hatred that has built up in the hearts of the people and disappear with it; a plan Naruto has never had an intention of going along with. Naruto then tells Sasuke that there are simply just fight and endeavors that people cannot do on their own. However, Sasuke is insistent further elaborating to Naruto that in order for the people to start a new era move on, the Kage and the Tailed Beasts have to exit the picture.

Naruto, hearing about Sasuke trying to denounce the past, vehemently disagrees by virtue of the fact that he himself is shaped by his past as well. The two see themselves as their childhood counterparts for a split second, both of them sharing the familiar yet different pain of being alone.

Naruto and Sasuke finally clash. In both of their minds, they reinforce their own beliefs in trying to stop the other. Sasuke starts the conversation by telling Naruto that he has to kill Naruto in order for his ideas to become reality. Naruto rebuts this by persuading Sasuke that his vision of a world has no guarantee of holding up in the long run.

Coming to a stalemate with their own principles, the two continue to clash until the both of them could no longer move.

Who Killed Naruto?

Before we get into the details of Naruto’s demise, we have to understand what sort of relationship he has with his inner demon, Kurama the Nine-Tailed Beast, first. Kurama has been with Naruto ever since he was an infant due to the unfortunate circumstances that eventually led to his parent’s demise. Because his body housed one of the infamous Tailed Beasts, Naruto’s life has always been in danger.

During the Fourth Shinobi War, Obito succeeds in effectively rendering Naruto incapacitated by separating Kurama from Naruto but we can also see that this wasn’t the end of Obito’s plot. Soon after this altercation, we see Madara plotting together with Obito to take over the world thereby setting in motion the events that led up to the war.

Here we also see that as nefarious as Obito’s deeds were, it was Madara who spearheaded the war and was merely trying to use anyone and everyone, Obito included, for his own gain. We also see that it was Madara who forced Obito to resurrect him and revive him into a physical body.

How Does Sasuke Beat Naruto?

Perhaps one of the most iconic fights to ever grace the Naruto series was the first actual duels of Naruto and Sasuke. Seeing the two of them eventually branch off from each other and pursue their own ideals, the confrontation between them was long-awaited.

During this fight, Sasuke was in the lead almost the entire fight but only because Naruto was simply fighting Sasuke to hold him off meaning that even if Sasuke was much better than Naruto when it came to combat and strategy, Naruto was able to hold him off with just the help of Kurama.

Even then, Sasuke was not to be outdone as he also had released the seal Orochimaru has given him thereby putting him on the same level as the Kurama-boosted Naruto. Naruto and Sasuke clash for one last time, leaving Naruto unable to move and Sasuke on his feet but barely able to walk.

This is one of the very few instances we see Sasuke beat Naruto in a 1v1.

Why Do Sasuke and Naruto Fight at the End?

There was a darkness that had built up inside Sasuke ever since he found out his clan got wiped out. The circumstances leading to him discovering who did it drove him even more over the edge. This was the reason why and how Sasuke had resolved to take on all of the hatred the people had and disappear with it. Naruto disagrees with this method and tries to persuade Sasuke that there must be another way leading them to eventually confront each other over whose principles would be stronger.

This would be the fight where they will be able to bury their rivalry once and for all by losing an arm to one another. After this fight, Sasuke and Naruto were able to reconcile and continue to be friends, supporting one another through thick and thin.
