Relationships are tricky. People who turned out to be one of your lifelong friends in the long run don’t seem like one at first. The same goes with Naruto and Sasuke’s relationship, and in their case, they beat the hell out of each other.
Sasuke did stab right around the right side of Naruto’s chest with Chidori in the original series. It was during their second serious fight, luckily, Naruto didn’t die. It was the turning point of Sasuke’s role as a protagonist as he started his dark path to avenge his fallen clan.
Did Sasuke kill Naruto?

Sasuke’s intent to kill Naruto stemmed from his own thirst to gain power. The Uchiha clan is known to have the most powerful eyes, otherwise known as the Sharingan in the shinobi world.
However, the price to pay to have it is heavy, an Uchiha must experience a highly traumatizing and emotionally distressing ordeal to awaken the Sharingan, such as the feeling of losing a loved one.
Sasuke activates his Sharingan’s first Tomoe when he sees right in front of him the massacre of his family and clan. Sasuke believed that by killing Naruto, the only person he considered as his friend, and the closest bond he has, would activate the second Tomoe of his Sharingan.
What episode did Sasuke stab Naruto?
Episode 132: For a Friend of the original Naruto series is the episode where Sasuke stabbed Naruto in the chest with Chidori. It is a battle to stop Sasuke from leaving the village, cutting all the bonds he made in search of greater power with the supervision of Orochimaru.
As Sasuke’s inevitable corruption begins, the squad, with Naruto leading the way, tries to stop him from leaving the village. The two met in the Valley of the End, with Naruto persuading Sasuke to just go home, but the other won’t agree so what can’t be settled with words was settled with action.
As the two clash, with either can overpower each other, Sasuke starts to use the cursed seal given to him by Orochimaru. This has given him enough advantage and attempted to kill Naruto to activate his Mangekyo Sharingan.
He hit Naruto with Chidori in the heart but failed greatly, as Naruto deflected it, leaving him with only a damaged lung.
How did Naruto survive Sasuke’s Chidori?
Getting rammed by Chidori in your chest is not the way you want to be smoked by someone. Chidori is a technique that uses high concentration of lightning chakra to attack the user’s opponent.
So how did Naruto survive this attack, especially when he’s stabbed in the chest with it? The answer is simple, Kurama’s high speed regeneration ability saved Naruto from this fatal wound.
As the battle ensues, Kurama seeing everything in the background, saw how Naruto was losing the fight. In order to remedy this, Kurama influenced Naruto to take a little portion of his chakra to mend his injuries and to give him an advantage in the battle.
Why did Sasuke spare Naruto’s life in their first battle?
Even after the power boost, Naruto failed to defeat Sasuke. But even if Sasuke’s all free to kill Naruto to activate the Mangekyo Sharingan, he didn’t. He doesn’t want to follow his brother’s advice of killing his own best friend to activate the Mangekyo and wants to gain power in his own way.
Although it is his plan to kill Naruto to activate his eye, he contemplated in the end, deciding that he would not be influenced by his brother’s control. Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke’s older brother, gained his Mangekyou Sharingan from witnessing the death of his own best friend, Shisui.
Sasuke’s intense hate for his brother and also the pride he has made him reject his brother’s suggestion on how to activate Mangekyo. Itachi Uchiha is the suspect behind the massacre of the Uchiha clan and also the killer of his own parents.
This highly traumatized Sasuke and nurtured the hate he has right now. He promises to train and be strong enough to kill his brother someday.
Will Sasuke join Orochimaru?
Even though he gained powers from the cursed seal, Sasuke still thinks that it is not enough to defeat his brother, Itachi Uchiha. He joined Orochimaru, one of the Legendary Sannin of the village to train with him to be more powerful than he is now.
Sasuke’s quest of getting revenge didn’t stop him from joining forces with a villain who killed the Third Hokage and who did numerous crimes as well. He believed that the power of the cursed seal would only develop if he stayed beside Orochimaru.
Sasuke also believes that staying in the village would only slow his progress, as he thinks that the missions given to them are all a bore and doesn’t give considerable chances of increasing his own power.
